Unità di ricerca "Telemedicina Generale e Sanità Digitale"
La Ur è particolarmente focalizzata sulla progettazione di ricerche cliniche. Queste ricerche sono svolte in collaborazione con la U.O.C. di Medicina Interna Universitaria “G. Baccelli” e con la U.O.C. di Chirurgia Generale Universitaria “V. Bonomo”, afferenti al DIMO e all’Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria del Policlinico di Bari. La U.OC. Baccelli è deputata all’accettazione dei ricoveri in urgenza e alla cura di pazienti non selezionati provenienti dal Pronto Soccorso dell’Azienda, oltreché alla gestione ed alla assistenza globale al paziente adulto e anziano affetto da patologie internistiche acute, croniche e croniche riacutizzate, comprese le forme polipatologiche complesse. Tale U.O.C. è inoltre sede della Scuola di Specializzazione in Medicina di Emergenza-Urgenza dell’Università di Bari, in collegamento con il Pronto Soccorso-Servizio 118 dell’Azienda. L’attività clinica è espletata nell'ambito della diagnosi e della cura delle malattie internistiche ad ampio spettro: pazienti con malattie croniche, quali patologie oncoematologiche, immunologiche, cardiologiche, gastroenterologiche, pneumologiche, endocrinologiche, con specifico riferimento a pazienti con neoplasie plasmacellulari, come il Mieloma Multiplo e l’Amiloidosi Primaria Sistemica, con Immunodeficienze primarie e secondarie, malattie immuno-mediate, quali il Lupus Eritematoso Sistemico e le vasculiti, lo scompenso cardiaco cronico e lo scompenso cronico riacutizzato, l’ipertensione arteriosa primitiva e secondaria, il diabete mellito. Molti progetti di ricerca del CITEL riguardano infatti pazienti con Immunodeficienze, con LES, con BPCO, con scompenso di circolo/ ipertensione arteriosa. La U.O.C. fornisce prestazioni diagnostiche e terapeutiche specialistiche, tali da richiamare un numero consistente di pazienti da tutto il Sud Italia.
La U.O.C. di Chirurgia Generale Bonomo “V. Bonomo” è deputata all’accettazione dei ricoveri dei 2/3 di tutte le urgenze chirurgiche dell’Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria Policlinico di Bari, nonché nel trattamento chirurgico in elezione dei pazienti affetti da patologie oncologiche e benigne del tubo gastroenterico, dell’apparato tiroideo e paratiroideo, pancreatico, epatico. Molti progetti di ricerca riguardano traslazionalmente la genomica, la ricerca in oncologia chirurgica, la endocrinochirurgia e la chirurgia d’urgenza. La U.O.C. “V. Bonomo” fornisce,inoltre, prestazioni diagnostiche oltre che terapeutiche chirurgiche tali da richiamare un cospicuo numero di pazienti regionali ed extraregionali.
La Ur ha competenze di Farmacovigilanza e Farmacoeconomia, temi ricorrenti nei progetti di Telemedicina e Sanità Digitale. E’ inoltre presente una forte competenza formativa ed educazionale per il personale infermieristico e per gli operatori sanitari nel loro complesso, attività fondamentale per la competenza di nursering nei progetti di Telemedicina e Sanità Digitale.

Professor Angelo Vacca was born in Bari on February 16, 1956. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in July 1980 with 110/110 cum laude. In 1983, he obtained the specialization in "General Hematology" with 50/50 cum laude, and in 1993 the specialization in "Internal Medicine" with marks 50/50 cum laude, at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. From 1983 to 1986, he attended the "Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research" in Lausanne, holding the position of researcher at the University of Lausanne.
In the academic year 1985-86, following a competition, he was admitted to the three-year PhD course in Clinical Immunology at the University of Bari, which he attended until the academic year 1987 - 88. In June 1989, holds the title of Doctor of Research.
Since November 1992, he has been an associate professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bari. In December 2002, he was declared eligible for the role of Full Professor of Internal Medicine. Since 1 January 2005, he has held the position of Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bari. Since 1st January 2005, he is Director of the U.O.C. of Clinical Immunology and Allergology of the University of Bari.
Since 1st November 2010 he is Director of the U.O.C. of Internal Medicine "Guido Baccelli", of the same University. He is the author of about 400 publications in international journals. His scientific activity concerns studies of immunopathology and oncology.

Professor Clelia Tiziana Storlazzi was born in Martina Franca (TA) on September 1, 1971. She graduated in Biology in November 1995 with 110/110 cum laude at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. In 2001, she obtained the specialization in "Applied Genetics" with 70/70 cum laude at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, and in January 2004 the Ph.D. title in "Genetics and Molecular Evolution" at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. From 2002 to 2003, she attended the Department of Clinical Genetics of the Lund University Hospital in Lund (Sweden), as a visiting scientist.
In December 2004, she became researcher in Genetics (BIO/18) at the University of Bari. Since October 2016, she is an associate professor of Genetics at the University of Bari. In 2018, she has been declared eligible for the role of Full Professor of Genetics. She has been member of two COST Actions: 1) COST Action B19 Workgroup 4 (Resources for Molecular Cytogenetics for FISH analysis and advanced technologies for the study of solid tumors); 2) EuGESMA BM0801 (European Study on Genetics and Epigenetics in MDS and AML), Italian member of the Management Committee, and Vice-Chair of WorkGroup 2. She was Advisory Boardmember of the Seven Framework Programme project entitled: "Next Generation Sequencing platform for targeted Personalized Therapy of Leukemia" coordinated by Prof. G. Martinelli.
She is also member of the LeukemiaNet (Workgroup 11 on Cytogenetics), and Associated Member of the HARMONY Consortium for the study of haematological malignancies by NGS approaches, chaired by Prof. J.M. Hernandez-Rivas (University of Salamanca, Spain).
She is presently the author of 107 publications in international journals, with 45 of them as first, last and corresponding author. Her scientific activity concerns studies of cancer molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics, with a particular focus on the identification of novel unconventional transcripts accompanying genomic aberrations with a role in tumorigenesis and tumor evolution.
